Participation in the Environmental Action Committee of YMM
MM21 DHC participates in the Environmental Action Committee of Yokohama Minato Mirai 21 (YMM), the area management corporation of the Minato Mirai 21 district. Through this committee, MM21 DHC takes part in measures against global warming and a wide range of other environmental initiatives.
The Company also takes part in Earth Hour, an environmental campaign sponsored by World Wildlife Fund Japan (WWFJ) in which the City of Yokohama and YMM participate. Every year MM21 DHC joins this event, symbolically turning off the lights for one hour.
Participation in the YSBA
The Yokohama Smart Business Association (YSBA) was founded in 2015 as a citizen liaison organization committed to making Yokohama an energy-recycling city characterized by superior disaster preparedness, environmental protection and economic performance.
MM21 DHC endorses the objectives of the YSBA and serves it as a member of its Board of Governors.
Key actions by MM21 DHC as a participant in YSBA are as follows.
- ·MM21 DHC is an environmentally friendly company tasked with supplying heating and cooling to the Minato Mirai 21, a district in which the City of Yokohama takes great pride as an international city. As part of that responsibility, the Company implements optimal operation management systems and high-efficiency heat sources.
- ·MM21 DHC applies the data it gathers through central monitoring and its expertise in operation-planning support systems to build optimal operation management systems.
- ·The Company also investigates the feasibility of advanced technologies expected to be commercialized in the near future. Through these investigations, the Company enhances the quality of operational controls while reducing their personnel requirements, and pursues further energy savings and reductions in CO2 emissions. In this way MM21 DHC contributes to the environmental performance of the Minato Mirai 21 district.
- (1)Installation of solar generating equipment on rooftops in the area, in public facilities outside the area and on unused land (city-managed housing, regulating reservoirs, etc.) and supply of the renewable energy so generated to decarbonize electricity production
- (2)Thorough reduction of energy consumption and district-wide energy management to create capability in adjusting electricity supply and demand
- (3)Achieving carbon reduction and decarbonization in the area’s DHC, one of the largest in Japan
- (4)Recycling of food waste in restaurants, etc., recycling of PET bottles and other initiatives to advance resource circulation
- (5)Presentation of events, etc. to encourage individual residents, businesses, etc. to reorient their habits toward decarbonization
MM21 DHC is engaged in above activities (1) and (3) as a thermal-energy supplier and in (1) through (5) as a general business operator in the Minato Mirai 21 district.
