The No.2 Plant is located on below-ground floors 4 and 5 under Queen’s Square YOKOHAMA. It started operation in July 1997. Large-capacity equipment including a double-effect absorption chiller and the world’s biggest electric turbo chillers are operated with full efficiency in the plant.
With all the attention paid to global warming and other environmental problems, there is a greater focus on non-CFC absorption chillers. 5,000 refrigeration-ton absorption chillers have superior standalone efficiency, space saving and maintenance characteristics, while offering performance equivalent to conventional steam turbine-driven turbo chillers. This outstanding environmental performance and energy efficiency earned the system the Chief of the Agency for Natural Resource and Energy's Prize for superior energy conservation equipment from The Japan Machinery Federation.
In order to reinforce capacity in line with the increasing number of office buildings and residential apartments, we installed a high-efficiency 5,000 RT electric turbo chiller. In the current year, we are substantially increasing our energy efficiency using substitutes for CFCs which do not harm the ozone layer. Furthermore, compared with the earlier model, emissions of carbon dioxide are expected to be reduced by 13%.
